"Climbing in Caçapava, as a sport, started in 1973, when Edgar Kittelmann conquered Pedra da Abelha, at the time, called Pedra do Corvo. The conquest of Pedra actually took place in 1974, a year later. Kittelmann was also the pioneer of gaucho mountaineering, when he made the first important rise in the state in 1952, at Itacolomi, near Porto Alegre.

He was also present in the early mountaineering of other sectors of the pampas, such as Casa de Pedra and possibly Rincão do Inferno, both in Bagé. "

30 years ago, in 1990, the climber conquered the first climbing route in Pedra do Segredo. The "Sem Medo de Ser Feliz" route was, for years, considered the longest route in the state and is part of the book of the top "50 Classic Roads in Brazil."

With 18 routes in Pedra do Segredo and 29 more routes in Pedra da Lua, in addition to boulders and rappelling points, these are guaranteed options in the Pedra do Segredo Municipal Natural Park. Also take advantage of the various climbing points in the pampa region, which has 284 routes in 24 sectors.

This rich climbing material designed by Vinicius Matté, an experienced climber from the region and a professor of geology, at the Federal University of Pampa brings up-to-date technical and safety information, sketches of the roads and a little about the region and its geology, access the link below.
